Calculate your military fitness test score with the exact published tables — not approximations. Pick your branch below for instant scoring: USMC PFT and CFT, Navy PRT, Air Force PT test, and the Army AFT. Free, no signup, works on your phone.
"PFT" means something different in every branch. If a recruiter or your command told you to "calculate your PFT score," here is where to go:
The Marine Corps is the branch that officially calls its test the PFT, so if you searched for a Marine PFT calculator, that is the tool you want — pull-ups or push-ups, the forearm plank, and a 3-mile run scored out of 300 points. Marines also take the separate CFT (Combat Fitness Test) in the second half of the year. Need to calculate a PFT score for OCS or NROTC? The same official tables apply.
Sailors take the Physical Readiness Test. The Navy PRT calculator scores push-ups, the forearm plank, and your cardio event (1.5-mile run or 2km row) against the current Guide-5A standards for all 11 age groups.
The Air Force fitness assessment changed significantly in 2026. The Air Force PT calculator covers the new PFRA standard — a 2-mile run or the HAMR shuttle run, plus the waist-to-height ratio component — effective March 2026.
The Army replaced the ACFT with the five-event AFT on June 1, 2025. Use the AFT calculator for the current test of record, or the ACFT calculator if you need legacy six-event scoring. Not sure what changed? See ACFT vs AFT.
Looking for a pulmonary function test? PFT also abbreviates a medical breathing assessment. This page covers military Physical Fitness Tests only — pulmonary results should be interpreted by your clinician.
| Branch | Test | Events | Scoring |
|---|---|---|---|
| Marine Corps | PFT | Pull-ups or push-ups, plank, 3-mile run | 300 max; 150 minimum (3rd Class), 235+ is 1st Class |
| Marine Corps | CFT | Movement to Contact, Ammo Can Lifts, Maneuver Under Fire | 300 max, scored by class like the PFT |
| Navy | PRT | Push-ups, forearm plank, 1.5-mile run or 2km row | Performance categories from Outstanding to Probationary |
| Air Force | PT test (PFRA) | 2-mile run or HAMR, waist-to-height ratio | New PFRA standard effective March 2026 |
| Army | AFT | Five events including deadlift, plank, 2-mile run | Minimum points required per event; higher standard for combat MOS |
💡 Pro-Tip: Every branch scores by age bracket (and the plank events are often the exception — the USMC plank is scored identically for everyone). Always use a calculator that applies your exact age group instead of eyeballing a chart.
Choose your branch calculator above, enter your event results (reps, times, and measurements), and your score is computed instantly from the official published scoring tables — the same rep-by-rep and time-by-time values your command uses.
The Marine Corps calls its test the PFT (plus a separate CFT). The Navy runs the PRT, the Air Force runs the PT test under the 2026 PFRA standard, and the Army replaced the ACFT with the AFT in June 2025. The Coast Guard uses job-specific fitness standards rather than one universal scored test.
Both are Marine Corps tests. The PFT (pull-ups or push-ups, plank, 3-mile run) measures general fitness and is typically taken in the first half of the calendar year; the CFT (Movement to Contact, Ammo Can Lifts, Maneuver Under Fire) measures functional combat fitness and is taken in the second half.
For the USMC PFT, 235+ earns 1st Class and is the standard to aim for; the Corps-wide average lands in the 240s. Other branches grade differently — the Navy PRT uses performance categories, and the Army AFT requires at least 60 points per event.
No — this page covers military Physical Fitness Tests. A pulmonary function test (also abbreviated PFT) is a medical breathing assessment interpreted by a clinician, not something scored with fitness tables.
