Calculate your Army Combat Fitness Test (ACFT) total score across all 6 events. Enter your performance in each event — your points and pass/fail status update instantly.
| Event | Abbreviation | Min Score | What Counts |
|---|---|---|---|
| 3-Rep Max Deadlift | MDL | 60 pts | Minimum 140 lbs (men) / 120 lbs (women) |
| Standing Power Throw | SPT | 60 pts | Best of 2 throws, measured in meters |
| Hand-Release Push-Up | HRP | 60 pts | Max reps in 2 minutes |
| Sprint-Drag-Carry | SDC | 60 pts | 5 x 50m lanes, lower time is better |
| Plank | PLK | 60 pts | Hold position as long as possible |
| 2-Mile Run | 2MR | 60 pts | Lower time is better |
To pass: Score at least 60 points per event AND a total of at least 360 points. Failing any single event means failing the ACFT regardless of total score.
The Army Physical Fitness Test (APFT) — push-ups, sit-ups, and a 2-mile run — was retired in April 2022 after more than four decades. The ACFT replaced it because the APFT didn't measure functional fitness, power, or strength, and its age-gender scoring adjustments had long been debated. The ACFT uses a 6-event structure designed to test the physical demands of combat: muscular strength (deadlift), explosive power (power throw), muscular endurance (push-ups), aerobic power (2-mile run), and multi-planar fitness (sprint-drag-carry).
| Total Score | Performance Band |
|---|---|
| 540–600 | Gold (Exceptional) |
| 480–539 | Silver (Excellent) |
| 420–479 | Black (Very Good) |
| 360–419 | Gray (Pass) |
| Below 360 | Fail |
To pass the ACFT you must score at least 60 points on every individual event AND total 360 or more points across all six events. A score above 360 does not save you if you scored below 60 on any single event — every event is a separate pass/fail gate.
The maximum total score is 600 points — 100 points per event. Achieving a perfect 100 on all 6 events is extremely rare and represents elite military athlete performance. Scores of 540+ (Gold) are considered exceptional.
Yes. The ACFT uses gender- and age-adjusted scoring tables, so the raw performance needed to earn a specific point value differs between male and female soldiers and across age groups (17–21 through 62+). A 50-year-old female soldier needs different raw numbers than a 22-year-old male soldier to earn the same 80-point score on each event.
The two most trainable events for quick gains are typically the Plank (low injury risk, responds quickly to daily holds) and the Hand-Release Push-Up (responds to volume practice). The Sprint-Drag-Carry rewards cardiovascular base and strength endurance together. The 2-mile run improves over 6–12 weeks of consistent aerobic training. The deadlift responds to progressive strength programming over months. Focus on your weakest event first — that's where the marginal point gains are easiest.
The leg tuck was removed from the ACFT and replaced with the Plank event in 2022. The leg tuck had extremely high failure rates among female soldiers and created equity concerns. The plank still tests core endurance but is more accessible across different fitness backgrounds while still requiring sustained muscular engagement. Testing for a different branch?
