Your PRT Result

💡 Pro-Tip: Your overall PRT score is the average of the three event scores — so one strong event can pull up a weak one, but failing any single event below Probationary fails the whole test regardless of your average. Shore up your weakest event first.

How the Navy PRT Is Scored

Each event — push-ups, forearm plank, and cardio — is scored against your age and sex bracket on a 45-to-100-point scale with twelve performance levels, from Probationary (45) up through Satisfactory, Good, Excellent, and Outstanding (90-100). Your overall score is the average of the three events, and that average sets your category. This calculator uses the complete official tables from Guide-5A of the Navy Physical Readiness Program (December 2025, OPNAVINST 6110.1 series), including the 2,000-meter row alternate cardio standards.

Boot camp graduation requires at least Satisfactory Medium in every event. The calculator applies the correct table for every age group from 17-19 through 65+, for both the run and the 2km row. What Changed in Recent Years

The forearm plank permanently replaced curl-ups in 2020 and was re-normed in 2023, and the current Guide-5A tables (December 2025) reflect updated plank standards where male and female times differ slightly by bracket. Alternate cardio — the 2km row, swim, treadmill, and stationary bike — remains available only at command discretion, so confirm with your CFL before planning on it.

Frequently Asked Questions

What score do I need to pass the Navy PRT?

You must reach at least Probationary (45 points) in every individual event — a single event below that level fails the test even if your other two events are Outstanding. For boot camp graduation, the bar is higher: Satisfactory Medium (50 points) in each event.

Is the plank scored the same for men and women?

No — unlike the Marine Corps plank, Navy plank standards differ by both sex and age group. A 20-24 male needs 3:20 to max the event, while a 20-24 female needs 3:10, and the required times step down through each of the twelve scoring levels.

Does an Outstanding PRT score help my career?

Yes. PRT categories feed into evaluations, and an Outstanding average is a visible mark on a competitive record. It also earns you the option to be excused from command PT sessions at many commands (CO discretion).

Can I take the 2km row instead of the run?

Only if your command offers it — alternate cardio is authorized at the Commanding Officer's discretion, not by individual choice. The row is machine-verified on a Concept2 erg and scored from its own official table, which this calculator includes.
