Check your Navy body composition against the new 2026 Body Composition Assessment — the official waist-to-height ratio screen (WHtR ≤ 0.5499) plus the exact Navy body fat tables from Guide-4.
Step 1 — Waist-to-Height Ratio Screen
Approved December 29, 2025 (OPNAVINST 6110.1L) and effective January 1, 2026, the Navy replaced its old height/weight tables with a two-step Body Composition Assessment built around a sex-neutral waist-to-height ratio (WHtR). Step 1 divides your waist circumference at the navel by your height. If the result is 0.5499 or lower, you're within standards and no body fat measurement is required. Only Sailors at 0.5500 or higher move to Step 2, where estimated body fat is read from the official Guide-4 tables using your height-minus-waist difference and your weight — this calculator embeds those exact tables.
| Height | Max Waist | Height | Max Waist |
|---|---|---|---|
| 5'4" (64") | 35.0" | 5'10" (70") | 38.0" |
| 5'6" (66") | 36.0" | 6'0" (72") | 39.5" |
| 5'8" (68") | 37.0" | 6'2" (74") | 40.5" |
| 5'9" (69") | 37.5" | 6'4" (76") | 41.5" |
| Standard | Men | Women |
|---|---|---|
| Maximum body fat | 26% | 36% |
| Minimum body fat | 18% | 26% |
If your Step 2 body fat is at or below the maximum for your sex, you pass the BCA. Preparing for the run and events too? Score them with our Navy PRT Calculator, and compare the Marine Corps version with the USMC Body Composition Calculator.
0.5499 or lower — your waist at the navel divided by your height, the same standard for every Sailor regardless of sex. At or below 0.5499 you're within standards and skip the body fat measurement.
You complete Step 2, a body fat estimate read from the official Navy tables using your height-minus-waist difference and your weight. You pass the BCA if that body fat is at or below 26% for men or 36% for women.
No. As of OPNAVINST 6110.1L the old maximum-weight-for-height chart was removed. Body composition is now determined entirely by the waist-to-height ratio, and only if you exceed it, the body fat tables.
Horizontally at the navel while standing relaxed and exhaling normally, then rounded down to the nearest half-inch. Because it's rounded down, a fraction of an inch can decide whether you clear the 0.5499 screen.
