Why BMI Is Still Widely Used Despite Its Limitations

BMI is cheap, fast, and requires no special equipment — just height and weight — which is why it remains useful for large-scale population health studies and initial screening, even though it's a poor measure for any single individual's body composition. Its creator, Adolphe Quetelet, developed it in the 1830s for population statistics, not individual health assessment, which is exactly the role it still plays best.

What is a lean BMI?

What is the Air Force BMI standard?
